The New Ross Conservation Club, located in New Ross, Indiana, is a community organization focused on promoting outdoor recreation, conservation, and education.
The club was officially incorporated as a domestic nonprofit corporation on June 12, 1961, making it over 63 years old, by Jack Baker. Today, the land is leased from the family of the original property owners for $1/year, for us to maintain and continue to operate the club as we have for over 60 years.
Its establishment stemmed from a local desire to create opportunities for enjoying outdoor life while fostering environmental stewardship. The club’s mission includes developing opportunities for outdoor enjoyment, encouraging the protection and restoration of woods, wild vegetation, and wildlife, teaching gun safety to youth, providing family activities, and supporting local youth groups. From our inception, we’ve aimed to serve as a hub for both recreation and community education in New Ross.
The organization is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, meaning donations to it are tax-deductible. The club’s facilities include areas for fishing, primitive camping, shooting ranges, and a clubhouse available for rentals, and a long-standing commitment to maintaining a space for outdoor activities.
